How Can Your Business Take Part in Truth and Reconciliation?

1 in 7 Manitobans are Indigenous and the population is growing. Participants will gain an understanding of the context of Indigenous people in Canada, in a time where Indigenous are recognized as the youngest and fastest growing population. This seminar will give you an introduction on how to find resources and respond to Truth and Reconciliation Commissions (TRC) Calls to Action Number 92, to the corporate and business sector.
Attendees will learn the following:
1. Learn about Indigenous based businesses, resources and strategies on Truth and Reconciliation Commissions, calls to action
2. A better understanding of what you hear in the media related to reconciliation
3. A different perspective and a better understanding of the history of Indigenous Canada
Jessica Dumas is an Indigenous professional coach and master facilitator and owner of Jessica Dumas Coaching and Training. She has served as the past chairperson for the Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce and is currently the Chairperson for the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. She was recognized in 2015 as a 40 under 40 Manitoban making a difference, and in 2017, as a Future Leader of Manitoba.
Hañwakañ Blaikie Whitecloud (Hañwakañ = ‘Northern Lights’ in Dakhóta) calls Winnipeg home and his favourite city. His parents are both Indigenous lawyers who started their lives living on the land. Hañwakañ facilitates workshops on reconciliation and systems change. A graduate of the Asper School of Business, Hañwakañ has been engaged in the business community as a mentor and leader in Indigenous issues.
