Info Session: How Local Futures Can Help Your Business

During this challenging time, Manitobans have been finding innovative ways to help each other out and to ensure as many businesses as possible survive the economic impact brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.The World Trade Centre Winnipeg has recently partnered with Johnston Group and PKF Lawyers to support a platform called Local Futures newly developed by Protegra, which does just that – helps local businesses.


Tyler Ibrahim from Protegra will discuss the initiative behind the Local Futures platform and inform attendees how to take part and setup their own successful campaigns. The discussion will be followed by a chat between Mariette Mulaire, President and CEO of the WTC Winnipeg and Obby Khan, Owner of Shawarma Khan, the first business to reach its campaign goal on the Local Futures platform.

Biography | Tyler Ibrahim
Tyler Ibrahim is focused on the design and implementation of new product and service offerings at Protegra.  His experience includes developing insights with customers and stakeholders, product feature design, user validation, and creating business and financial models. Since its launch in 2016, he has been working on The Local Frequency business line. Tyler has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Asper School of Business and has been with Protegra since 2015.


Biography | Obby Khan
Obby Khan was know for his illustrious 9-year career in the CFL but he more commonly knows for his success as an Entrepreneur owning 2 separate business, Shawarma Khan and Green Carrot Juice Company.Following his CFL retirement in 2012, Khan opened his first Shawarma Khan, and hasn’t slowed down since. Shawarma Khan, now has 3 locations in Winnipeg’s and 3 locations at Investors Group Field. In 2014, Khan broke ground on Winnipeg’s first cold-pressed juice company. Three Green Carrot Juice Company locations now feature the healthiest on-the-go products for the local Winnipeg community. Time and time again, Obby Khan has proven his Love and Dedication to Winnipeg.  With his role on the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Council, Winnipeg Harvest, Crohns and Colitis Foundation and many others.
