Safety Comes 1st: New Accessible Employment Standard

This workshop will provide an overview of the Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA) and the regulations that affect Manitoba employers, including the accessibility standards for customer service and employment. The presentation will focus on the requirements affecting employee safety during emergencies, effective for all organizations starting May 1, 2020.

Attendee will learn the following:
1. Learn the requirements of the Accessible Employment Standard (what your organization needs to do and by when)
2. How to keep all employees safe during emergencies, including additional awareness for people with a disability
3. Understand the background of the AMA, along with other accessibility standards and their requirements
Emily Walker is a Policy Analyst at Manitoba’s Disabilities Issues Office (DIO). The DIO’s current priority is the development and implementation of standards under the Accessibility for Manitobans Act.
