Born in St-Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba, Mariette Mulaire has served as President and CEO of the World Trade Centre Winnipeg since its official opening in April 2013. Prior to that, she was the President and CEO of ANIM since its inception in 2007, where her involvement in numerous economic development initiatives on behalf of Manitoba included spearheading the creation and hosting of Centrallia, the first international B2B forum of its kind in Western Canada. Her previous economic development experience includes ten years as Executive Director for the Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM), and working with Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) and Canadian Heritage.

Mariette Mulaire’s participation in national associations and initiatives includes serving on the Boards of Directors of the Bank of Canada, the Canada-Israel Industrial Research Development Foundation (CIIRDF), Canada West Foundation and TV5, as well as the Advisory Board of the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP). She was co-chair of the Canada Summer Games 2017 Host Society and spokesperson for Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie in 2017 and 2018. In 2018, she was named one of the top 10 most influential Canadian Francophones by Francopresse.

Locally, Mariette Mulaire is an active member of organisations such as the Asper School of Business Associates Recruitment Committee. She was also the spokesperson for the 200th anniversary of Université de St. Boniface (2018).

She was awarded the Ordre des francophones d’Amérique in 2010, was the 2011 recipient of the YMCA-YWCA Women of Distinction award in the “Leadership” category, and received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. She was the 2015 recipient of the Award of Excellence – Promotion of Linguistic Duality from the Commissioner of Official languages. She received the Prix Riel and the Prix Maurice Gauthier in 2017 in recognition of her ongoing commitment to the promotion of linguistic duality in Manitoba and Canada.

Mariette Mulaire holds a national designation with the Canadian Institute of Management (CIM) as a Professional Manager, in management and administration, and earned the Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) designation from the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT).

Derek Earl is the Vice-President of the WTC Winnipeg, overseeing international trade strategy and operations for the organization. He has been instrumental in a number of key projects, including the initial establishment and launching of the World Trade Centre in Winnipeg in 2013, and organizing the Centrallia global business forum, which has been bringing hundreds of business leaders from around the world to Winnipeg every two years since 2010 from more than 30 countries.

He leads the WTC Winnipeg’s northern and Arctic trade development strategies, working with businesses, northern communities, and business networks across the Arctic market. This includes hosting two northern-focused conferences bringing together experts and industry representatives from around the world’s northern regions actively participated (2014 and 2016). He is also actively developing the organization’s trade development strategies with the USA, connecting the WTC Winnipeg to the Small Business Network of the Americas.

Prior to joining the WTC Winnipeg, Derek Earl worked with the Canadian Embassy in Paris, France, where he helped establish the Province of Ontario’s trade development and investment attraction office. He also spent several years as a market research professional with the firms Ipsos-Reid and Kisquared.

A native of Winnipeg, his education includes Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in International Relations from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Arts in International Politics from the University of Ottawa.

Raïssa joined the WTC Winnipeg team in August 2018 as the marketing coordinator. With her working knowledge and understanding of branding, positioning and marketing, Raissa develops content and visuals for marketing campaigns and advertisements. She also produces all external materials for the organization in accordance to the events and projects deliverables.

Originally from Ivory Coast, she came to Winnipeg in December 2009, and graduated from the Communication multimedia program at Université de Saint-Boniface. She went on to complete a training on film set etiquette at Film training Manitoba, and project management fundamentals at the University of Winnipeg.

Her competences include graphic and Web design, digital marketing and project management.

Camille joined the World Trade Centre Winnipeg as a Trade Advisor and helps Manitoba companies thrive nationally and internationally. Her focus is to facilitate connections and provide assistance and market research to existing businesses interested in new markets.

She has a B.A. in English and Spanish and International Management as well as a Masters in Negotiation of International Projects with a major in cross-cultural communication. She has extended experience working in business development and client relations across Europe and North America.

Wafa Batrah joined the team at the end of April 2019 as an intern and became a finance agent in August of that year. With a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a diploma in accounting and finance, her role allows her to keep abreast of the developments in the world of sums and calculations. In her previous role at Swissport International, Wafa worked in civil aviation within the company’s centralized load control department where she maintained communication with many stations around the world. She has also worked as the Client Service team coordinator at 24-7 Intouch.

Wafa always does her best to stay disciplined while handling the multiple financial tasks related to her role.

Jessica Burzynski joined the World Trade Centre Winnipeg (WTC Winnipeg) in 2019 and is currently the administrative assistant, working directly with Mariette Mulaire. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management of Co-operatives from the University of Winnipeg, where she was the vice-president of Events for the Business Administration Students’ Association during the 2017-18 academic year. Prior to joining the WTC Winnipeg team, she had 7 years of experience in customer service from diverse local businesses.

In addition, Jessica has been a volunteer advisor with Junior Achievement of Manitoba since 2016 and currently sit on the Board of Directors of the University of Winnipeg Business Administration Students’ Association.

Joelle Boisvert first joined the team in August 2016 as the Business InfoCentre Manager and has now taken on a new role as Director of Human Resources. Joelle previously worked at her Alma Mater Université de Saint-Boniface as the Coordinator of the Development office, where she holds her Bachelors of Arts. She has also worked at the Société franco-manitobaine as Liaison Officer for over 10 years. Joelle brings to the WTC Winnipeg a variety of experience in planning, event organization and client relations. True to her francophone roots, Joelle continues to build strong relationship with her francophone community, working in francophone organizations for over 20 years.

Éric Courcelles joined the team in early 2014 for the launch of the Business InfoCentre as a research specialist. He has previously worked for the Niger Chamber of Commerce (CCAIAN) as part of the Canada’s International Youth Internship Program, as Research Assistant in the Department of International Business at HEC Montreal, and as Assistant Coordinator of Centrallia 2010.

He obtained a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface (medal of excellence) and a Master’s of Science in Administration from HEC Montreal (with great distinction).

Muriel’s passion for entrepreneurship started in high school with the Junior Achievement after-school program. She continued her studies at the Université de Saint-Boniface where she earned her diploma in Business Administration with a major in Marketing. Muriel has experience operating, manager and owning her own business. She is also very involved with her community by participating in many clubs and committees.

Nicole Fontaine is the Business Development Officer at the World Trade Centre Winnipeg and has been with the organization since 2014. Nicole has over 30 years of experience in customer service and networking fields. She owned and operated a family Child Care Centre for over 9 years after which she began coaching non-profit organizations to setup Early Learning and Child Care facilities in their communities. Nicole completed a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology and Sociology and a minor in Political Sciences from the Université de Saint-Boniface. She also holds a Public Administration certificate from Red River College.

Stéphanie Fontaine leads many initiatives at the WTC Winnipeg with the support and direction of her colleagues. She has an infectious “get it done” attitude that serves her well in her position. Her goal is to bring together programming that gives Manitobans looking to expand their knowledge, connections or skills the right tools and training needed to better succeed.

Stéphanie volunteers with Junior Achievement Manitoba by mentoring and guiding the next generation. She is also a recipient of their 2011 VP of Finance award.

Johana Gutierrez joined the WTC Winnipeg in 2017. Her main role within the Trade Services team is to assist companies looking to expand their business internationally. She has experience in ensuring companies participating in Canada’s Trade Accelerator Program become export-ready through market research and the development of a solid export plan.

She holds a B.A. in International Studies from the Université de Saint-Boniface. Johana is fluent in French, Spanish and English.

Brigitte Kemp-Chaput joined the team in October 2018. Brigitte previously worked at St. Boniface Hospital Foundation as Manager of Donor Relations and Events. Brigitte brings to the WTC Winnipeg a demonstrated history of working in relationship and event management as well as sponsorship fulfillment and activation.

She is proficient in both official languages with beginner to intermediate skills in Spanish.

Nicolas joined the WTC Winnipeg team in June 2018 as a Business Advisor. Originally from Burkina Faso, he arrived in Winnipeg in September 2010. He studied at the Université de Saint-Boniface and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in management and a minor in human resources and industrial relations. Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Esmeralda Rodriguez moved to Winnipeg in 2019 and then joined the WTC Winnipeg as a Trade Advisor. Her role is to help Manitoba businesses reach their corporate goals through obtaining strategic data, locating business opportunities, and connecting businesses with potential Canadian and international partners; as well as provide advisory services on issues such as export planning, market entry strategies and financing options.

She finished her International Business post-graduate program at the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) and received her International Certification as a Trade Professional (CITP®, FIBP®). Before joining the WTC Winnipeg, Esmeralda worked for the United States Embassy in Colombia for ten years and was responsible for the transition of Immigrant Visa cases from Cuba and Venezuela to Guyana.

Esmeralda speaks Spanish, English and French.

With over 30 years of experience working in the private and public sector, Marguerite Simard brings a vast amount of financial management experience to the ANIM organization.

Having worked at Great-West Life, the Collège Universitaire de Saint-Boniface and CDEM (Economic Development Council for Manitoba’s bilingual Municipalities) – her strong accounting and financial skills plus her incredible attention to detail make her a key member of the management team.

Chantal Vielfaure has been part of the World Trade Centre Winnipeg team since June 2012.

She has a specialized Bachelor’s degree in Translation from Université de Saint-Boniface, and has more than four years’ experience in translation and office administration. During her three years as a technical translator with a software company, she developed a very versatile background and can handle and prioritize several jobs at once.

She is proficient in both official languages and is now honing her Spanish and German skills.

Originally from Toulouse, France, Lucie Wiens moved to Manitoba in 2004. She joined the WTC Winnipeg in 2019 as Director of Trade Services.

Prior to joining the WTC Winnipeg, Lucie was a Trader at Roy Legumex. The company merged with Walker Seeds in July 2011 to become what is now known as Legumex Walker Canada Inc., listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX). Legumex Walker Canada Inc. is one of the main processors and exporters of pulses (lentils, peas, beans, and chickpeas). She managed pulse sales on the domestic market (Canada and United States) as well as on many exports markets (France, DOM TOM, Greece, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and more).

At the WTC Winnipeg, Lucie oversees the Client Services team comprised of Trade Advisors, Business Advisors and the Liaison Officer. Her team’s main role is to help Manitoba companies gain the knowledge and confidence needed to grow their operations in Manitoba, Canada and in foreign markets.

Michelle Withoos joined the WTC Winnipeg team in March 2017 as a receptionist. She brings to the organization ten years of experience working as a bilingual receptionist.
