Reis’s immigration practice is particularly focused on obtaining temporary entry and permanent residency for senior executives, managers, professionals and other company employees from all over the world, providing training to businesses and HR professionals on immigration law and processes, and working collaboratively with business and HR professionals to create easy to use systems to comply with federal and provincial immigration laws.

In 2023, Reis was appointed to the Premier of Manitoba’s Business and Jobs Council, and the following year was named Chair of the council’s Immigration and Skills Alignment Sub-Committee.

Reis has been invited to speak to Canadian and international audiences by the World Trade Centre Winnipeg, the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, the Conference Board of Canada, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the State Bar Associations of Minnesota and North Dakota, the Minnesota Society for Criminal Justice, the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, Chartered Professionals in Human Resources Manitoba (CPHR Manitoba), the Law Society of Manitoba, the Manitoba Bar Association, Belmont University (Nashville, TN, U.S.A.) and the Community Legal Education Association of Manitoba.

He is currently the Chair of the Immigration Subcommittee of the Premier of Manitoba’s Business and Jobs Council. He has presented position papers before the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, co-authored Manitoba Bar Association and CPHR Manitoba responses to proposed immigration changes, and has appeared before both the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration and the Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology on immigration legislation. He has written more than 100 articles and papers on immigration law that have appeared in human resource, professional services, construction, legal and ethnic publications. He has written a freelance column on immigration issues for the Winnipeg Free Press, and was a Senior Writer for the CBC where he wrote opinion columns on immigration.

Raised in Winnipeg, Jessica began her legal career at a law firm in Minnesota, where she started as a Law Clerk in 2014 before becoming an Associate Lawyer in May 2015, focusing on family and immigration law.

Jessica practises Canadian and U.S. immigration law and maintains a Foreign Legal Consultant permit from the Law Society of Manitoba, allowing her to practise U.S. law in Manitoba.

She is dual-licensed and is a member in good standing of the Manitoba, Minnesota and North Dakota Bars, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Desiree has extensive experience in advising clients with respect to taxation and estate planning. In particular, Desiree assists clients with corporate tax planning, personal tax planning, corporate reorganizations and tax efficient business structuring. Desiree also has experience with distribution planning, the implementation and use of family trusts, succession planning and inter-generational transfers of businesses, personal estate planning and drafting testamentary documents. Desiree regularly advises clients at all stages of the business cycle. She works with a broad range of industries including medical, dental, cannabis, retail and service oriented businesses.

In July 2023, Desiree completed the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program (IDTP). The three-year program provides tax practitioners with a strong foundation of technical knowledge in core tax issues. Desiree uses the skills she gained from completing the IDTP to help achieve the best outcomes for the firm’s clients.

Andy is a registered Canadian patent agent and Canadian trademark agent. He has litigated cases before the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal.

Outside the legal field, Andy spent more than 10 years as a combat engineer with the Canadian Forces Army Reserve.

Before studying law, he studied science at the University of British Columbia and authored a thesis, Investigations into the Presence of Leptin in Pancreatic Islets.
