Market Research Specialist

Position Summary

This individual is a key resource for internal and external clients in terms of research and data. They have a thorough knowledge of data and market information, and how to use it effectively, according to the needs at hand. This individual is also responsible for managing database subscriptions and assisting with certain duties related to the customer relationship management (CRM) software.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Conducts secondary market research and drafts custom reports as requested by co-workers, the business community and partners of the organization
  • Advises co-workers on market research objectives and assists as needed to meet clients’ needs
  • Identifies and examines external directories, databases and other tools related to Manitoba’s business ecosystem
  • Examines trends and opportunities within local, national and international markets to inform the content of communications
  • Uses the customer relationship management (CRM) software, databases and external resources to identify, research and prioritize leads for the organization’s programs and services, as well as for special projects
  • Coordinates and maintains subscriptions to external databases and acts as a contact point for all questions related to the database (administrative, training or clarification on their use), including suggestions for possible subscriptions to other databases
  • Researches, identifies and suggests new database subscriptions
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by supervisors

 

Essential skills and competencies

  • Certificate or diploma in business administration or market research
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar position
  • Proficiency in both of Canada’s official languages is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy and professionalism
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing circumstances in a multi-tasking work environment
  • Time management skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintains strong internal and external working relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Hands-on experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software: will be considered an asset

 

Other information

  • Office work – Work takes place primarily at the head office in Winnipeg, Manitoba
  • May be required to work some evenings and weekends
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to various demands and priorities
  • May be required to work off-site for events in urban and rural communities
